Job Summary:

Maintain quality of the output, tools, and backend of a generated website. Document, and track the details of each production release from delivery to QA through to the production hand-off.

Job Functions:

Join the Ticketmaster.com development team providing essential QA testing of all new and existing code-base. We have a lot of code to test and the quality assurance stage is the last-stop before going gold. Join us to ensure that our products meet the high quality standards demanded by our clients and customers.
  • Functional Web Testing:
    • Black Box and automated testing.
    • Functional web site testing to manually and visually check the quality of Ticketmaster.com.
  • Code Testing:
    • Grey Box/White Box testing for functionality, performance, and regression of code used for website.
  • Develop and Maintain Test Plans: Write, maintain, and verify test plans. Identify components, scope, and resources for QA members on projects. Develop test matrixes, identify test data and use case requirements.
  • Defect/Bug Lifecycle Tracking: Will be responsible for identifying, logging, and escalating bugs. Verify fixes, regression testing, and updates to related QA documentation.
  • Mentoring: Provide guidance to more junior team members in developing technical and testing skills. Document all stages of the QA process and work with QA Director to define testing practices.

Required (and Preferred) Candidate Skills and Qualities:

  • Candidates must have previous experience as a QA Engineer in both white and black/grey box testing. Previous experience testing consumer-oriented commerce websites preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills. Must be highly organized and able to quickly and accurately prioritize
  • Must have a strong functional understanding of the development processes, technologies, and models of implementation used in the production of world-class websites (e.g., agile programming, XP methodologies, "good enough" quality assurance, context-driven QA, etc.).
  • Must have experience with the UNIX operating system at the user level and better. Must be able to manipulate files, set permissions, and navigate the file system without the aid of support documentation. Experience testing applications developed in mod_perl using Apache and Template Toolkit is ideal.
  • Must have experience shell scripting, preferably directly related to process or test automation.
  • Must have experience using and testing database related code. Must be able to write SQL queries to identify and verify data used by code. Must also be able to write SQL to find or create baseline data for complex test scenarios. Should be comfortable with relational database technology and concepts and tools. Previous experience with MySQL and Oracle is ideal.
  • Teamwork, solid written and oral communication skills, and the ability to think on your feet are expected.
  • Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have strong multi-tasking abilities. Above all else, you must, at your core, be a problem-solver, a sleuth, and incurably inquisitive.
